Cyprian Godebski

ABOUT CYPRIAN GODEBSKI

Polish sculptor and professor at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. He created the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument in Kraków.

He studied at the Paris studio of sculptor François Jouffroy.

He won the contest for the Adam Mickiewicz Monument in Kraków, but lost the commission to newcomer Teodor Rygier.

He married Zofia Servais and they had a daughter.

He and Arthur Szyk are both artists from Poland.
