ABOUT DAREN JULIUS GARVEY SAMMY
St. Lucien cricket player known for being the captain of the international West Indies cricket team. He was also the captain of Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League from 2017 to 2020. He is popular on Instagram and has over 900,000 followers.
He began playing professional cricket at the age of 17 for the Northern Winward Islands in 2001. He was a member of the West Indies team for the 2002 Under-19 World Cup.
He has set up the Darren Sammy Foundation to help offer youth scholarships. He was appointed as a member of the Cricket West Indies Board of Directors as an independent director.
He was born in Micoud, Saint Lucia. He is married to Cathy Daniel and they have four children.
He was awarded honorary Pakistani citizenship by President Arif Alvi for his part in bringing back international cricket to the country.
