ABOUT DAVID HOLBROOK

British author, poet, critic, and scholar, who became known for novels such as Going Off the Rails (2003) and Getting it Wrong with Uncle Tom (1998). His poetry volumes include Object Relations (1967) and Against the Cruel Frost (1963).

He served as a military officer from 1942 to 1945 and fictionalized this experience in his 1966 novel, Flesh Wounds.

His 1972 work, Sex and Dehumanisation, details his his anti-adult entertainment activism.

He married Margot Davies-Jones in 1949; together, they had four children.

In 1946, he visited author George Orwell for the sole purpose of courting Orwell's housekeeper, Susan Watson.
