Platinum-selling country artist who released the #1 singles "Strawberry Wine" and "We Danced Anyway." Her first album, Did I Shave My Legs For This?, was five times Platinum. She has released 7 full-length albums throughout her career.
She worked in stroke rehabilitation after graduating from the University of Tennessee. She later became a spokeswoman for the National Kidney Foundation.
She has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and seven CMA Awards in her career. In 1997, she won single of the year at the Country Music Association Awards for "Strawberry Wine."
She announced that she was separating from her husband Brandon Malone in 2012; the couple has one son.
She performed a memorable duet with Dolly Parton on "Love Is Like a Butterfly."
