ABOUT DENNIS GABOR
British physicist and nobel laureate who invented holography - three dimensional representation of images - in the 1950s. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1971.
He started out his work in Germany, but fled the Nazi regime and worked the rest of his life in England.
It took ten years until technology allowed his holograms to be practical, and another ten years for his work to be awarded the Nobel Prize.
He was born into a Jewish family that changed their name from Gunszberg to Gaborin 1902.
He was a high school classmate of Laszlo Biro , inventor of the ballpoint pen.
