ABOUT DEREK REID
English scientist remembered for his contributions to the field of mycology. He authored more than two hundred papers on fungi and published a popular field guide on mushrooms.
He earned his PhD from the University of London and worked as an assistant to famed scientist R.W.G. Dennis.
His name is so closely associated with fungi that six species have been named after him.
His father worked as a picture-framer.
He and Raymond St. Leger are both well-known and respected mycologists.
