NFL tight end who was first signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He was once considered a two-star prospect.
He initially began his college football career at Golden West Community College. He later transferred to San Jose State University as a junior in 2018.
During his final college season at San Jose State, he caught 47 passes for 730 yards and four touchdowns.
Growing up, he lived with his family in the La Palma, California area. His father, Derrick Sr, played in the NFL for 13 seasons.
He played alongside Taylor Decker as a member of the Lions during the 2022 NFL season.
