ABOUT DIANE WAKOSKI
Confessional and deep image poet known for The Motorcycle Betrayal Poems, Emerald Ice, and other works. An acclaimed author, she received Fulbright, Guggenheim, and National Endowment for the Arts grants.
She graduated in 1960 from the University of California, Berkeley.
She taught creative writing courses at Michigan State University.
She grew up in Whittier, California. She later married Robert Turner, a photographer.
Her 1988 poetry collection, Emerald Ice, received the prestigious William Carlos Williams Award.
