ABOUT DOC RIVERS
Former NBA guard who spent most of his career with the Atlanta Hawks , he then went on to become a successful coach. He led the Boston Celtics to an NBA Championship in 2008 and became head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers in 2013. He'd later serve as head coach for the Philadelphia 76ers from 2020 until 2023.
He attended Marquette University, where his coach gave him the nickname Doc.
He set a playoff-record with fifteen assists in a game against the Celtics in 1988. He became head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024 when the team already had a 30-13 record.
MLB All-Star Ken Singleton is his cousin. He married Kristen Rivers in 1986. His oldest son Jeremiah played college basketball at Indiana and his second oldest son Austin became a first round pick of the New Orleans Hornets in 2012. He also has a daughter named Callie and another son named Spencer .
Before his time with the Celtics, he coached the Orlando Magic and their marquee center, Dwight Howard .
