Screenwriter who was nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Writing for The Gay Deception from 1935.
He wrote his first soundtrack lyrics for Dangerous Nan McGrew in 1930.
He wrote the Bing Crosby films Waikiki Wedding from 1937 and Road to Morocco from 1942.
He married Jenny Walkup. The couple had a daughter named Lisa.
He created the screenplay for Road to Zanzibar from 1941, which starred Bob Hope .
