Republican politician who was a United States Senator from Oklahoma from 1981 until 2005. He served as the Senate Majority Whip from 1996 to 2001.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Oklahoma State University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

He had four children with his wife, Linda Lou Morrison Nickles.
