Dora Greenwell
ABOUT DORA GREENWELL
English poet and essayist known for works with religious and political themes. Her publications include Lacordaire, The Patience of Hope, and Songs of Salvation.
She was born at Greenwell Ford, her family's County Durham estate.
Her poem "I Am Not Skilled to Understand" was set to music by William J. Kirkpatrick and was subsequently performed as a hymn.
Named after her mother Dorothy, Dora Greenwell grew up with four brothers.
She dedicated one of her poetry collections to Elizabeth Barrett Browning .
