ABOUT EDGAR BOWERS
Award-winning poet who is best remembered for such poetry collections as The Form of Loss and The Astronomers. He received the Bollingen Prize in Poetry for a 1989 collection entitled For Louis Pasteur.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Years later, he taught at nearby Duke University.
His collected poems were published three years before his death.
He was born in Rome, Georgia. He died in San Francisco, California at the age of seventy-five.
He and fellow poet Ann Stanford both completed coursework at Stanford University.
