Edmund Burke

ABOUT EDMUND BURKE

English politician and member of the Whig party who is widely considered the philosophical founder of modern Conservatism. He served in the British Parliament as a member of the House of Commons for Wendover.

The debate club at Trinity College was known as Edmund Burke's Club.

He supported the American revolution but opposed the French Revolution, which led to him being involved with the Whig party.

His father, Richard Burke, was a prominent solicitor for the Church of Ireland.

He served as a member of the Whig party for several years; Millard Fillmore was the final member and President from the Whig party.
