ABOUT EDWIN LUTYENS
Dubbed "the greatest British architect," he played a role in designing and building New Delhi in India, known as Lutyens' Delhi. Collaborated with Sir Herbert Baker on the India Gate. Also designed the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
He studied at the South Kensington School of Art from 1885 until 1887. He was employed by the practice of Ernest George and Harold Peto following graduation.
He designed various community buildings and houses throughout Ireland.
His parents named him after painter and sculptor Edwin Henry Landseer, who was good friends with his father. He had five children with Lady Emily Bulwer-Lytton.
He and Frank Lloyd Wright were contemporaries.
