Long-distance runner who represented Ethiopia in the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics in the marathon and won the 2003 Tokyo International Marathon.
She began competing in 1993.
She won the Nagano Marathon in 2000.
She grew up in Arsi Zone, Ethiopia.
In 2000, she married Gezahegne Abera , winner of the 2000 Olympic men's marathon.
