New Jersey-born poet and author who is remembered for such sensual poetry collections as Angels and Earthly Creatures and Nets to Catch the Wind. Her novels include The Venetian Glass Nephew and The Orphan Angel.
She attended the Holton-Arms School, a prestigious Maryland preparatory academy.
She worked briefly during the 1920s as the poetry editor of Vanity Fair.
She had a series of marriages and high profile affairs and finally wed Pulitzer Prize-winning poet William Rose Benet in 1923.
She was influenced by the work of John Donne .
