ABOUT EMMET COHEN
Pianist, composer and teacher known for his skill on the piano and performances with artists including Christian McBride , Ron Carter , Jimmy Cobb , Joe Lovano , George Coleman , and others. His debut album, In the Element, was released in the year 2010 and he has produced and released subsequent music.
He was born in Florida but grew up in New Jersey. He studied music at the Frost School of Music, the University of Miami , and the Manhattan School of Music.
He tours with his band called "Emmet Cohen Trio"; which includes performers such as Russell Hall, Kyle Poole, Phillip Norris, and Joe Farnsworth. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he created a weekly live music stream called "Live from Emmet's Place".
He and his father enjoy visiting jazz clubs together. He has shared photos with his parents on his social media accounts.
Growing up, he learned piano using the Suziki method, developed by Shinichi Suzuki .
