ABOUT ERAST PARMASTO

20th century Estonian mycologist and botanist who served as the president of the Estonian Naturalists' Society from 1973 to 1976.

He first became a member of the Estonian Institute of Zoology and Botany in 1950 and later served as its director in the 1980's.

He was given many awards for his work, including the Karl Ernst von Baeri medal in 1976.

He was born and raised in Nomme, Estonia.

He was born in the same country as poet Ain Kaalep .
