Journalist and author who worked at Billboard magazine, Rolling Stone, and Salon. He published Lapdogs: How the Press Rolled Over for Bush in 2006, followed by Bloggers on the Bus: How the Internet Changed Politics and the Press in 2009. He also wrote for the Daily Kos.

He earned a degree in Near Eastern studies from the University of Massachusetts .

He was the editor and founder of PressRun.Media, a media commentary platform.

He was born in Utica, NY, and raised in Guilford, Connecticut. He married Traci Breslin, with whom he had two children.

Writer Richard Phillips also attended the University of Massachusetts.
