American intelligence officer and CIA agent best known for his involvement in the Watergate scandal. He was one of the men behind the initial Watergate burglary.
He attended Brown University and later served in the U.S. Navy, the Air Force, and the Office of Strategic Services during World War II.
He wrote several spy novels and a memoir entitled American Spy: My Secret History in the CIA, Watergate, and Beyond.
His first wife, Dorothy Wetzel, was also a CIA agent and was killed in a plane crash. He later married Laura E. Martin.
