Egyptian movie actress who was one of the most acclaimed and celebrated actresses in the history of Egyptian cinema.
She won her first acting award at the Beirut Film Festival for her performance in 1954's Have Mercy.
She was given the Lifetime Achievement Award as the Star of the Century in Egyptian cinema during the 2001 Alexandria International Film Festival.
She was married to actor Omar Sharif from 1955 to 1974.
In 2001, she came out of retirement to star alongside Ahmed Ramzy on the soap opera miniseries Wash al-Qamar.
