He won a gold medal in the light middleweight at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.
He was the National Gold Gloves light middleweight champion in 1983.
He turned professional right after the Olympics, and promptly won his first 23 fights.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan.
In 1992 he fought Virgil Hill for the WBA light heavyweight title, but lost via decision.
