ABOUT FRED COE

Award-winning producer of stage and live television dramas. He created The Philco-Goodyear Television Playhouse, which ran from 1948 until 1955.

He joined NBC as a production manager in 1945 and worked on the program Studio One.

He put together Broadway productions of The Miracle Worker and A Thousand Clowns, which were both nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play.

He was born in Alligator, Mississippi, and was married twice. He fathered four children.

He helped launch the careers of future famous writers like Gore Vidal and Paddy Chayefsky.
