ABOUT FRED SCHAUS
The first coach of the Lakers after they moved to Los Angeles. He mentored Hall of Famer Jerry West .
He played college ball at West Virginia, where he came back to coach after retiring from the NBA.
He competed in the very first NBA All-Star game.
He had two sons with his wife Barbara, and six grandchildren.
He and Chick Hearn both made their names with the Lakers organization.
