One of Paraguay's first modern writers, he published La Bobosa, La Llaga, Mario Pareda, and other famous novels. He also wrote a play and two short story collections.
Before becoming a novelist, he wrote for El Diario, El Liberal, and several other magazines.
For a short period, he was active in Argentinian politics.
He was married to Carmen Dora Parola at the time of his death.
He, like Cecilio Baez , earned a law degree from the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion.
