ABOUT GABRIELA ANDERSEN-SCHIESS
Former long-distance runner who participated in the first women's Olympic marathon at the 1984 Summer Olympics. She gained fame for her memorable finish staggering into the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, as she suffered from dehydration.
She lived in Sun Valley, Idaho and worked as a ski instructor.
She finished the Olympic marathon 37th out of 44, in a time of 2 hours, 48 minutes and 42 seconds.
Her husband is named Richard Andersen.
She finished the marathon 24 minutes behind the winner, Joan Benoit .
