ABOUT GENE COON

Screenwriter most recognized for his contributions to the original Star Trek series, Bonanza, Zorro, Have Gun--Will Travel, Wagon Train, and The Wild Wild West.

During World War II, he served in the Marines.

He was also an accomplished novelist, having published Meanwhile Back At The Front and The Short End in 1964.

He died of both throat and lung cancer in 1973. He was unmarried.

He worked with actor Pernell Roberts on the show Bonanza.
