ABOUT GEOFFREY GRIGSON

English poet, author, editor, critic, and naturalist known for Wild Flowers in Britain, An Ingestion of Ice Cream, and other works. He received the 1971 Duff Cooper Prize for a poetry collection entitled Discoveries of Bones and Stones.

He was one of seven sons born to a clergyman. Sadly, five of his brothers were killed in either World War I or World War II.

He worked as an editor for the BBC Monitoring Service during World War II.

He was married three times -- to Francis Galt, Berta Emma Kunert, and Jane McIntire -- and had four children.

He was the father of jazz musician Lionel Grigson .
