ABOUT GEORGE BERNARD SHAW

Irish author and playwright who valued socialism and women's rights. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1925. He authored over 60 plays throughout his prolific career.

He grew up to harbor a lifelong animosity towards school teachers and the academic system.

His Pygmalion has been a widely adapted play, as was the musical My Fair Lady. He possessed the unpopular view that both sides of World War I were equally at fault.

He never consummated his marriage with Charlotte Payne-Townshend, but did have numerous affairs with other married women.

Richard Wagner was a source of inspiration for him.
