ABOUT GEORGE GARRETT
An American novelist and poet, he is known for Death of the Fox, The Finished Man, Double Vision, and other works. He received numerous literary awards, including the Carole Weinstein Poetry Prize (2006) and the T.S. Eliot Award (1989).
He received multiple degrees from Princeton University and later worked as an associate professor of English at the University of Virginia.
He was named the Poet Laureate of Virginia in 2002 and held the position until 2006.
He was born in Orlando, Florida, and he attended military school in Tennessee during his teen years. He married Susan Garrett.
He and John Balaban both received Guggenheim Fellowships for their literary work.
