ABOUT GERALD GODIN
Quebec-born poet, journalist, politician, and 1987 recipient of the Prix Quebec-Paris literary honor. He is perhaps most famous for a poetic work entitled Ils ne demandaient qu'à brûler.
He worked as a journalist for La Presse, a Montreal newspaper.
He was arrested during the 1970 October Crisis. Later a prominent member of the Parti Quebecois, he was elected to several government positions.
He and Pauline Julien, a Canadian singer, were life partners.
He was a literary contemporary of fellow Canadian author Timothy Findley .
