ABOUT GIAN VILLANTE
Mixed martial artist from New York best known as a Ring of Combat Heavyweight Champion and Light Heavyweight competitor for UFC. He was previously a New York State Champion wrestler, winning the title in 2003.
He won the Thorpe Award as a football player at MacArthur High School in 2002.
His victory against Sean O'Connell in June 2014 was named Fight of the Night by the UFC.
He was born Gianpiero Villante to Josephine and Sal Villante.
He became close friends with future UFC fighter Chris Weidman while wrestling at Hofstra.
