Right-handed batsman for Derbyshire between 1935-1946. He appeared in 19 first class matches, scoring 472 runs.
He honed his skills while attending Derby School.
He captained Derbyshire in 1946, shortly after returning home from service in World War II.
He was born and raised in Derby, and died in Mickleover.
He is part of a long line of Derbyshire captains that includes Simon Katich .
