Grace Beacham Freeman
ABOUT GRACE BEACHAM FREEMAN
American poet, author, and one-time South Carolina Poet Laureate whose works include Midnight to Dawn and Not Set in Stone. She also wrote television and radio dramas and published articles in numerous southern newspapers.
She received a degree in English from Converse College, where she also majored in Latin and theatre.
She wrote a family-oriented newspaper column called "At Our House" during the 1950s and '60s.
She married John Alderman Freeman, a zoology professor. The couple raised four children.
She studied with James Dickey , whose writing workshop greatly influenced her poetic style.
