Grace Metalious
ABOUT GRACE METALIOUS
An American author, she is best known for her controversial 1956 novel, Peyton Place, which was on the New York Times Bestseller list for over a year. Her later works include The Tight White Collar (1961) and No Adam in Eden (1963).
She grew up in poverty in Manchester, New Hampshire. She began writing during her childhood years and pursued a literary career following her graduation from Manchester Central High School.
Her novel Peyton Place sold over 30 million copies.
She was born Marie Grace DeRepentigny in Manchester, New Hampshire. She married George Metalious in 1943.
She and Joe Klein both had books on the New York Times Bestseller list.
