ABOUT HAIDER ACKERMANN

Colombian fashion designer most well known for his ready-to-wear menswear collections. He created his self-titled label in 2001 and has since dressed celebrities like Tilda Swinton , Kanye West , and Penelope Cruz .

Inspired by Yves Saint Laurent , in 1994 he began studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.

In 2004, he won a Swiss Textiles Award.

At nine months old, he was adopted by a French Alsatian family. His father is a mapmaker and he grew up in nations like Ethiopia, Chad, and Nigeria, before eventually settling in the Netherlands.

Early in his career, he worked as an intern for John Galliano .
