ABOUT HAL GALPER

Sophisticated hard bop pianist who was a member of Phil Woods' Quintet from 1980 until 1990.

He was a student at the Berklee College of Music from 1955 until 1958.

He joined the faculty of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and Purchase College.

His family recognized his musical talents, and he began studying classical music while he was still young.

He collaborated with many musicians, including Chet Baker, Joe Williams, and Stan Getz .
