She began performing as a ballerina before moving to acting.
She joined a group of other actresses in wearing the Islamic head scarf in all acting roles beginning in 2006.
She grew up with two brothers: Hussein and Hossam. She married Khaled Khattab. She has three sons named Youssef, Adam and Mohamed.
She was born in the same country as fellow actress Mona Zaki .
