ABOUT HELEN ADAM
Scottish-born poet, collage artist, and photographer who was an active member of the Beat Generation and the San Francisco Renaissance. Shortly after publishing a 1980 poetry collection entitled Gone Sailing, she received the prestigious American Book Award.
She published her first poetic work, The Elfin Pedlar, when she was just fourteen years old.
Her poem "Margaretta's Rime" exemplifies her striking poetic style and the dark, supernatural focus of much of her literary work.
She and her sister collaborated on a 1963 ballad opera entitled San Francisco's Burning.
She and Allen Ginsberg were both members of the Beat Generation of poets.
