ABOUT HERMANN BAUMANN
Known best for his virtuoso French horn performances, this musician played with such prestigious orchestras as the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Dortmunder Philharmoniker. He also worked as a music teacher and composer.
During his early teenage years, he played jazz drums and studied voice; at the age of seventeen, he discovered his passion for the horn and subsequently trained at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg.
He was the 1964 winner of the famous ARD International Music Competition in Munich, Germany.
Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, he later settled in Essen, where he taught for three decades at the Folkwang University of the Arts.
He and pianist Helmut Roloff were both important German musicians and music teachers of the Twentieth Century.
