Japanese chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2000 for discovering conductive polymers. He worked as a professor at University of Tsukuba in Japan for many years.
He worked as an assistant at Tokyo Institute of Technology.
He is related to a member of the singing group Morning Musume.
He is related to Naoko Takahashi, the women's marathon gold medalist of the 2000 Summer Olympics.
He won the Nobel Prize three years before Peter Agre did.
