ABOUT HOWARD JOHN BRENTON

English playwright and screenwriter who won two Evening Standard Awards and won a BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series for the series Spooks.

He attended St Catharine's College, Cambridge where his play Ladder of Fools was produced.

He also wrote the libretto for the 1994 opera Playing Away.

He married Jane Margaret Fry in 1970, and they had two sons.

Sir Anthony Hopkins starred in his play Pravda in 1985.
