ABOUT HUBERT CHIASSON

Singer who rose to acclaim in a relatively short amount of time after the release of his first solo album Darlène. The album was a short-listed finalist for the 2018 Polaris Music Prize and garnered even more attention when he performed a single from it called "Fille de personne II" on the sixth season finale of La Voix in May of 2018.

He's originally from Quebec City, and released album with his older brother Julien in 2015 under the band name The Seasons.

During his appearance on La Voix, he exposed his left buttock on which possessed a tattoo some critics believed was vulgar. He later said it had been his intent to shake up the telecast.

Darlène is actually a concept album about a love affair between a young woman from Quebec and a suicidal American tourist, and it was released concurrently with a novel of the same name by Chiasson's partner, writer Noémie D. Leclerc.

He told Fader in September of 2018 that Darlène's biggest influence was Prince 's Purple Rain.
