Hugh Acheson
ABOUT HUGH ACHESON
Chef and restaurateur best known to television audiences for having appeared as a contestant on Top Chef Masters and, later, a judge on Top Chef. He has owned several restaurants in the state of Georgia, including Five & Ten, The National, and Empire State South.
He was raised in the Manor Park and Centretown neighbourhoods of Ottawa, Canada. He became a dishwasher at the Bank Street Café at age 15.
His first cookbook, A New Turn in the South: Southern Flavors Reinvented for Your Kitchen (2011), received the James Beard Foundation Award .
He married Mary Koon, with whom he has daughters named Beatrice and Clementine.
He has appeared alongside Tom Colicchio as a judge on Top Chef.
