ABOUT HUMBERTO ORTEGA

Nicaraguan revolutionary leader who published many works about his involvement with the Sandinistas, the revolutionary group that ended the Somoza dynasty.

He founded the South American rebel group FSLN, which fought the Somoza dictatorship, which ruled Nicaragua from 1936 to 1979.

He became the Minister of Defense of the new Nicaraguan revolutionary government.

His father Daniel Ortega was also part of the FSLN, and became president of the new government.

President Ronald Reagan , against Congress' orders, funded the Contra army that fought against his regime.
