Defender who made his professional debut in 1999 for Derby County, later signing with Chesterfield in 2003 and Blackpool in 2007. In 2020, he was named the manager of the Bolton Wanderers, a League One team.

He played youth soccer for Derby County.

He signed with Chesterfield in 2013.

He was born and raised in Coventry, England.

Attacking midfielder Tom Ince became his teammate on Blackpool in 2011.
