British singer-songwriter and frontman of rock band Mott the Hoople who also pursued a solo career, singles like "Once Bitten, Twice Shy." When Mott the Hoople disbanded in 1974, he moved to New York to pursue a solo career.
He was a member of The Apex Group, as well as playing with The Young Idea and other bands before Mott the Hoople.
His band was named after Willard Menus' 1966 novel, Mott The Hoople. By May of 2022, his Spotify audience had reached over 80,000 monthly listeners.
He had a child with his wife Diane in 1962.
He toured with Ringo Starr in 2001.
