ABOUT ILDEMARO VARGAS

Professional third baseman that was first signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in 2008. He has also played in the Chicago Cubs , Arizona Diamondbacks , Pittsburgh Pirates and Minnesota Twins major league farm systems. In May 2022, he earned a contract to sign with the Washington Nationals .

He originally began his professional career playing for the Venezuelan Summer League Cardinals rookie affiliate team. Nearly one year later, he was sent to the GCL Cardinals.

He currently has the fifth-longest single-season hitting streak in the  Pacific Coast League's history. He recorded a franchise record 35-game hitting streak that went from June 24 to Augiust 11, 2018.

Growing up, he lived with his family in Caripito, Venezuela.

He played alongside Paul Goldschmidt as a member of the Diamondbacks during his official MLB debut.
