ABOUT IVAN ALBRIGHT
Acclaimed artist associated with Magic Realism and best known for his still lifes, character studies, and self-portraits. His works included "Portrait of Mary Block" from 1955-1957 and "Poor Room-There Is No Time, No End, No Today, No Yesterday, No Tomorrow, Only the Forever, and Forever and Forever without End (The Window)" from 1942-1963.
He and his twin brother both enrolled at the Art Institute of Chicago and decided based on a coin flip to study painting and sculpture, respectively.
His work was given a major exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago on what would have been his 100th birthday.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Adam Emory Albright, a noted landscape painter.
His well-known work "The Picture of Dorian Gray" from 1943 was created for a film adaptation of Oscar Wilde 's classic novel.
